Chemical Peels Near Swavesey

Chemical peels for pigmentation, congestion and uneven texture, about 15 minutes from Swavesey. Treatments take place at our Upper Cambourne clinic and are carried out by Shannon Dry Aesthetics – more on skin resurfacing in Cambridge and how a course is planned.

The appointment itself is short. Most of the work happens over the following week as the skin turns over, which is why peels run as a course rather than a single visit.

How chemical peels work

A solution is applied to cleansed skin, left on for a measured time, then neutralised or removed. It loosens the bonds holding dull, pigmented and congested cells at the surface so the skin sheds them faster than it would on its own.

Skin renews on roughly a monthly cycle, so peels are spaced to work with that rather than against it. A course is normally several sessions a few weeks apart, with aftercare and daily sun protection in between.

Who it is for

Peels suit a fairly wide range of concerns, but not everyone and not every skin. The consultation exists to work out which of those you are.

Pigmentation and sun damage

Uneven tone, freckling and patches left by years of sun exposure are among the things peels handle best, with a cautious approach and strict aftercare.

Marks left after breakouts

Post-inflammatory pigmentation – the flat brown or red marks left behind once a spot has gone – often responds well to a course.

Rough or congested texture

Skin that feels bumpy, looks dull or clogs easily can be improved by speeding up the rate it sheds.

Your first appointment

The first visit is a consultation and a patch test, not a full treatment. We go through your skin history and any medication, apply a small test patch, and you see how your skin settles over the next few days. If it settles well you leave with a plan: which peel, how many sessions, how far apart, and what to do at home in between.

Questions

Do people really travel from Swavesey?

Yes. It is roughly 6.5 miles – south on the A14, then the A428, then follow signs for Cambourne, then Upper Cambourne. Most clients are here in about 15 minutes. Times and distances are approximate.

How is the drive from Swavesey at rush hour?

The A14 is the pinch point at either end of the day. Mid-morning and early afternoon appointments avoid most of it.

How long will my skin look like I have had a peel?

With a superficial peel, expect a few days of light flaking that makeup covers easily. Deeper peels mean visible peeling for the better part of a week, so they are planned around your diary.

How many sessions will I need?

Most courses run to somewhere between four and six sessions a few weeks apart, but that is set after your patch test rather than guessed in advance.

Can I have a peel if I have darker skin?

Often yes, but the approach is more conservative and the patch test matters more, because darker skin tones carry a higher risk of pigmentation changes after treatment.

Do I need to stop any skincare beforehand?

Usually yes. Retinoids, acids and strong exfoliants are normally paused for a period before a peel. You will get specific instructions once the peel is chosen.
